This flag has been issued by the First Syrian Parliament in 1932 After the French Mandate Authority decided to make the first Democratic Parliamentary Elections in Syria after more than Ten Years Of the start of the French Mandate on Syria. The Green Colour at the top of the flag symbolise the Flag of The Moslem Armies that started moving North during the life of the Profit Mohamed Peace be upon him and continued during the four Khalifs after him and during which time north Arabia including Syria Palestine Jordan and Iraq have adopted Islam. The White Colour in the Middle symbolise the Flag of the Umayyad Khalifate Armies that spread Islam to North Africa and Andalusia in Europe. The Black colour at the Bottom Symbolise the Flag of the Abbasid Khalifate Armies that spread Islam in Asia all the way to India and China. In the Middle of the Flag there are Three Red Stars that refer to the Three Different Revolts against the French Mandate at its beginnings In the Twenties of Last century. The First being the Revolt of the National Hero Ibrahim Hanano in Aleppo And it’s Country side. The second was the Revolt of Shiek Saleh AlAli in The Western Mountains of Syria By the Mediterranean Sea. The third being the Revolt of Sultan Basha AlAtrash , who’s National Tittle was The Leader of the Syrian Revolution, in the Druze Mountain South of Syria. It should be Noted as a Historical Fact that the French Authorities in Syria At that time did not interfere at all in the deliberations of The Syrian Parliament nor in its Decision in adopting this Flag as the National Flag of Independent Syrian Nation which has continued as the National flag until the Bathist and Naserite Coup d'état in March 1963 with the exception of the period of the Union with Egypt that Did not see it’s third Anniversary.

The emblem of the Syrian Republic consists of an Arab gear in the middle of which are the three stars of the Syrian flag. The gear embraces Hawk derived from Arab history.
